Soaking in a hot spring is appealing to people of all ages. For those who have a bit more life experience, hot springs can give you relief from chronic aches and pains. While some hot springs are in the heart of nature and require a hefty hike, others are in bathhouses in a brick-and-mortar building a short walk from a parking lot.

Whether you’re looking for a place to kick back and relax or are in hopes of finding some relief, we’ve found the best hot springs in New Mexico for seniors. These won’t require a major hike and they’ll have comfortable water temperatures.

For those who want to take advantage of its healing and reviving mineral water baths, Faywood Hot Springs, a rustic, undeveloped geothermal retreat in southwest New Mexico, offers numerous outdoor camping sites and secluded soaking areas.

There are different sections for private and group bathing, as well as pools where clothes are not required. Hey, we don’t judge! For extended lodging options, there are tent sites, RV sites with hookups, and private cabins.

There are 13 geothermal pools in the Faywood Hot Springs Resort, with temperatures ranging from 100 to 110 degrees.

Speaking of camping, consider staying at the Gila Hot Springs River Campground. One thing to note right off the bat is these springs are a bit hotter than most. If you have any sensitivity to heat, perhaps visit another hot spring on this list.

In southwest New Mexico, it provides camping and open-air hot springs pools near the Gila River. It sits roughly four miles from the Gila Cliff Dwellings National Monument. You can spend a day in the wilderness looking at animals and relax in the evening in the toasty water.

On a piece of property held by the Campbell family, hot springs erupt from the rocks. Due to the absence of offensive sulfur, the springs are regarded as sweet springs and range in temperature from 147 to 154 degrees.

The historic Hot Springs neighborhood of Truth or Consequences provides recently renovated luxury lodging in a gorgeously reconstructed 1930s motor court. The rooms at this retreat are individually themed. Our favorite is The Golden Girls room!

There is a mineral water feature in every room. Another nice touch is that the bedding here is all of the highest quality, allowing you to feel like you’re drifting away on a cloud after a long soak.

These hot springs also feature a wet room. Here you will find cascading waterfalls that act as a natural masseuse. Check out the two historic hot spring baths while you’re in the Wet Room as well!
