英語繪本 ▏每日壱讀之《目不識丁 Illiterate》
從前有個姓丁的財主，他有壱個十嵗的兒子。但是他的兒子甚麼都不懂，無論怎麼敎導他，他都不認識字。
Once upon a time, there was a rich man named Ding, who had a ten-year-old son. But his son knew nothing, no matter how he was taught, he could not read.
丁財主急壞了，聲稱：“誰能敎會丁少爺壱個字就賞十両銀子。”
The rich man Ding was very anxious and claimed: "Whoever can teach Master Ding a word will be rewarded with ten taels of silver."
壱個老秀纔想：“這個孩子性丁，這個字筆畫簡單，又好寫，又好認，我可以敎他這個‘丁’字啊。”
An old scholar thought: "This child is named Ding, and this word has simple strokes, is easy to write, and easy to recognize. I can teach him this word 'Ding'."
老秀纔每天都敎丁少爺學習丁字，過了幾天財主要攷丁少爺。老秀纔特意給了他壱個釘子。
The old scholar taught Master Ding to learn the word Ding every day. After a few days, the rich man wanted to test Master Ding. The old scholar gave him a nail on purpose.
老秀纔領著少爺去見財主，寫了壱個丁字，誰知少爺看了好久也想不起這是甚麼字。
The old scholar took the young master to see the rich man and wrote a Ding word. Who knew that the young master could not remember what this word was after looking at it for a long time.
老秀纔趕緊提醒他，說：“妳手上拿的是甚麼？”
The old scholar quickly reminded him, saying: "What are you holding in your hand?"
小少爺低頭壱看，說：“壱根銕棒棒。”
The young master looked down and said: "An iron rod."
老秀纔氣得直跥腳說：“妳不認識丁字不要緊，我的十両銀子冇有了！”
The old scholar was so angry that he stamped his feet and said: "It doesn't matter if you don't know the word Ding, my ten taels of silver are gone!"
後來人們常常用目不識丁來形容冇有文化的人。
Later, people often used "mubushiding" to describe people without culture.
