12. Dwarf Blue-Flowered Chaste Tree

The most common bloom color of a chaste tree is blue!

A chaste tree usually draws focus because of its sheer beauty. It’s important to note that most of them are too big for yards with little space. Vitex is a miniature blue chaste shrub that only reaches heights and widths of three to four feet.

This shrub grows nicely in boxes, flower borders, and as a ground cover. It is covered in spiral-shaped blue flowers that mimic lanterns from June through September. Springtime pruning will promote lots of blossoms.

The shrub may thrive in hot, dry environments where plants like it struggle. In USDA zones six through nine, it is cold hardy.

13. Miniature Snowflake Mock Orange

The strong citrus aroma from a mock orange is reason enough to plant it!

The Miniature Snowflake Mock Orange is a fantastic option if you’re searching for a blooming deciduous shrub ideal for an informal border or base placement. It develops in a round dense form and expands to a height of two to three feet with a spread of one to two feet.

Toward the beginning of spring, you’ll spot beautiful white clusters of flowers on your mock orange plant. The fragrant blossoms of Miniature Snowflake draw insects such as butterflies and bees and give them essential nutrition.

During the summer, the shrub grows oval in shape and has five-inch-long verdant leaves. The Miniature Snowflake may survive in a variety of soils and conditions since it is hardy. In USDA zones between four and eight, it is cold hardy.

14. Black Diamond ‘Best Red’ Crape Myrtle

Pink Crape Myrtle’s are also a great shrub to plant in the fall.

The flamboyant, red blossoms of this shrub will add flair to your surroundings in springtime when planted in the fall. Dinslage claims that the shrub will stop people in their tracks due to its dark foliage and vibrant red blossoms from spring through October.

Give this plant plenty of time to grow to its maximum height of 10 feet. Alternatively, if the plant is cut back in the wintertime, it will develop into a three-foot-tall hedge. This crape myrtle thrives in pots as well.

This is a great option for homeowners who have busy schedules. It requires less upkeep and has a high level of mildew resistance. Once planted, it can withstand drought. In USDA zones six through nine, the plant is hardy.

15. Mahonia

Some Mahonia shrubs produce berries!

Elegant, aromatic, bright yellow blossoms on the Mahonia shrub herald the coming of springtime. To serve as a barrier to light in the backyard, people adore planting this low-maintenance plant around October. Your garden will undoubtedly gain a fresh vigor throughout the fall as a result.

The Mahonia shrub’s protracted bunches of lemon-yellow blooms flourish all through the fall, filling your yard with the aroma of the lily of the valley. This evergreen shrub’s leaf takes on a reddish or violet hue as the temperature drops.
