There are many things we might see while at a restaurant. People, waiters, and food come to mind. A leopard is probably not one we would ever even guess would be on the list of things one might see in a restaurant. However, it is South Africa, after all, so maybe it would be on your list.

Leopard Sighting in South Africa
The next YouTube video shown at the top of this blog post takes us all the way to South Africa, in the Kruger National Park. This video was filmed by a tourist and shared by the Latest Sightings YouTube page. This channel regularly shares footage from tourists and tour guides from the happenings in Kruger National Park. Tourist Erika Wiese shares her description of events below.
“…This particular morning, vervet monkeys alerted us to the presence of a leopard that made its way onto the upper deck, crossed the lower deck and then made its way from the lodge to remain undetected. The leopard was seen stalking a bushbuck in the riverbed in front of the lodge earlier. Singita’s staff is well-trained to deal with encounters of this kind and have strict safety protocols in place to ensure the safety of both staff and guests in these situations, we were, therefore, able to remain calm, silent and in awe of the beautiful creature that was so close to us.”
Leopard Vs. Restaurant

At the start of this video, we are taken to the Kruger National Park. We are at a restaurant, and we hear the sounds of monkeys in the background. As Wiese said, these monkeys were alerting people to the presence of a predator of theirs that was coming in. And then, without further ado, we see an actual leopard outside of this establishment, and he starts to walk up on the porch.
A man is on the outside, and we see him alerting people with hand signals, but he smartly makes no sudden movements so as not to scare this leopard. At 16 seconds, we see the leopard walking by, and for a moment, he just pauses and stares this man down as if he says he has a right to be here. And then he just walks right into the restaurant!
How Many Leopards Live in Africa?
Leopards (Panthera pardus) of the family Felidae can be found all throughout Africa and in Asia. There are estimated to be about 700,000 leopards that reside in Africa alone. However, according to these studies, it is estimated these past estimates might be a bit inaccurate.
