Pond Building in Alabama
The next YouTube video posted at the top of this blog post takes us to a state down south, Alabama. The Bama Bass YouTube page shared this video. They have received over 174 million views across their videos. This channel is dedicated to “Building ponds and raising pet bass at our farm in Sweet Home Alabama!”
Crimson Oak Pond in Alabama
At the start of this video posted at the top, we see that this Bama Bass group built a five-acre pond back in February of 2022. As they built the pond, they were excited about all the fish that would be present. However, as they built the pond, they noticed that a lot more wildlife was coming out of the woodwork.
After all, water is a great place for all animals to be able to come to. And not just for hydration but also for their ability to cool off and hunt other animals and forage for food. We see animals such as foxes, geese, bald eagles, coyotes, deer, and other birds.
They were able to set up night vision cameras and capture the wildlife that would gather around the pond and interact with one another. If you pause the video at 3:31, we are able to see amazing footage of several deer lying down close to one another by the pond. Thanks to the night vision cameras, they were able to share this experience with us.
How Many Deer Live in Alabama?
Deer (Odocoileus virginiana) of the family Odocoileus virginiana reside in Asia, Eurasia, Europe, and in North America. There are considered to be so many deer that their population status with the exact numbers is not known. However, their conservation status is not extinct.
Alabama has a plethora of deer in the state. There were estimated to be about 1.5 million in the year 2021, and each year, it seems to grow! So, it is no wonder they were able to see plenty of deer around the new pond that this group built.
