Still, the reason this hotel has such a haunting reputation is that people have noticed doors opening and closing by themselves without anyone around. Now, it’s still thought of as one of the most historic hotels of the downtown area. In the 1920s, a woman in Julia Lowell passed away in the hotel. Rumor has it, she was in love with another guest who was also staying there at the time. The legend states that she died of a broken heart because the man she loved simply didn’t feel the same way about her. The stories of her death vary, but some believe she leaped out of one of the windows from an upper floor. Sounds of a mysterious woman crying have been reported at the Gadsen Hotel since then.

Young students should never be forced to attend a school where they’re being mistreated. All kids deserve gentle education from authoritative figures who respect them! Unfortunately, that’s not what happened at the Phoenix Indian School. The boarding school was built specifically for Native American students and functioned between 1891 and 1990. The whole purpose of the school was to help Native American students learn more about American culture through their academic educations. Instead, they were treated terribly by the instructors. Now, people say that spirits of the children still roam around the hallways of the school. Just knowing about how the level of sadness that took place within the walls of the Phoenix Indian School is enough to break anyone’s heart.

The Rosson House

There’s a Victorian-style mansion you’ll easily be able to spot next time you visit Phoenix. Although this mansion once existed as a home to a very wealthy family, it now stands as a museum for guests to analyze and walk through. Dr. and Mrs. Rosson lived in this mansion with the rest of their family starting back in 1895. When the house was first built, the family likely didn’t believe it would eventually become a museum for others to analyze and ogle. After Dr. Rosson passed away, rumors about his ghost floating through the walls of the mansion started circulating. Smells of cigar smoke and the creepy sound of a woman laughing have also been reported as well. AZ Central says this place is sure to give you goosebumps.

As the scary story goes, a woman named Leone Jensen jumped from the hotel roof sometime in the 1920s. Another version of the story says she was pushed from the roof against her will! Either way, people say that the ghost of Leone still lingers there.

This museum will provide you with loads of history while totally creeping you out at the same time. There are 26 different buildings to explore, and they were all constructed back in the 1800s. People claim to hear children singing in the old school house, even though children haven’t been taught in that school house in more than 200 years.
