Discover the 8 Tallest Buildings in Florida
Florida is known for having beautiful beaches, amazing weather, and multiple cities with amazing skylines. The cities with the best skylines in Florida most certainly include Miami, Tampa, Orlando, and Jacksonville. However, not all of these cities are known for having lots of height to come along with their skylines. In fact, if you were to look at the 43 tallest buildings in Florida, only three aren’t in Miami or the Miami suburb of Sunny Isles Beach.
Two of the tallest 43 are in Tampa and one is in Jacksonville. That’s right. Orlando didn’t make the list at all. The tallest overall building in Orlando is 441 feet tall, which would put it 85th just in Miami. But don’t get it confused, Orlando, Jacksonville, and Tampa still have stunning skylines. But for this article, we’re looking for height. Here are the 8 tallest buildings in Florida.
Paramount Miami Worldcenter
Starting off our list is the Paramount Miami Worldcenter. This building was first completed in 2019 and stands at a height of 700 feet tall. The Paramount Miami Worldcenter is one of the most amazing hotels and private residences you can see. There are countless amenities that include gardens, a rooftop observatory, an outdoor soccer field, basketball court, golf simulator, 26 pool cabanas, and many more. There’s also easy access to get to the ocean that’s just a few blocks away. The creators of the Paramount Miami Worldcenter truly thought of everything when they were designing it.
One Thousand Museum
Miami has had one of the largest population booms of late. Along with a population boom means more places to live. That’s just what One Thousand Museum does. The 709 foot tall building was finished back in 2019. The sole purpose of this building is to house some of Miami’s luckiest residents. Along with amazing views, there’s a rooftop swimming pool, spa, salon, juice bar, bar, and sunbathing area. This building has been coined as the “scorpion tower” because of its unique look.
830 Brickell
One of the tallest office buildings in Florida is 830 Brickell. This building opened up in 2022 and stands at a height of 725 feet. Inside this Miami office building you’ll be able to find some of the largest corporations in the world. These include Microsoft, Rothschild & Co and Citadel Group. Many of these large corporations are flocking to Florida thanks to cheaper leasing for office space. This was a huge outcome after Covid-19, companies trying to get workers back into the office. These companies also know how people want to live in the warmth like Florida, so it’s a great incentive.
Brickell Flatiron
Another Miami building finished recently to help with the rising population is Brickell Flatiron. This residential and shopping tower was completed in 2019 as well. While it only took four years to physically complete, this building had quite a hard time getting off the ground. It was originally supposed to be a mixed-use building that was going to be built in 2008. However, the recession that took place ended those dreams. Thankfully, in 2017, the idea of the building was brought back to life and completed quickly. It now stands at a height of 734 feet tall and is officially the fifth tallest building in all of Florida.
Southeast Financial Center
By far and away the oldest building on this list is the Southeast Financial Center. This building first opened for use in 1984. For 19 years, it stood alone as the tallest in Florida with a height of 764 feet. For a long time, there were only two other buildings that even came close, the Miami Tower and Bank of America Tower in Jacksonville. The Southeast Financial Center is the tallest office building in Florida, with companies like Merrill Lynch, Wells Fargo, and Goldman Sachs having offices there. Overall, given a lot of the wealth that can be found in Florida, it makes sense to have as many financial services around.
Four Seasons Hotel Miami
Based off the name, you can probably guess one of the functions of this building. However, you can also find offices and private residencies along with the hotel at Four Seasons. In fact, only half of the buildings floors are used as a hotel, with the other half being private property. There are those three floors of office, most of which is used by HSBC Bank. At the time of its opening in 2003, this building took hold of the tallest in Florida with a height of 789 feet. The building has a distinct blue tint that looks as if it would blend in with the ocean waters it towers over. There is also shopping on the bottom floor and access to the Sports Club/La Miami, some of the nicest gyms and spas, in the tower.
Aston Martin Residences
The Aston Martin Residences were officially completed in 2023, and are one of the tallest all residential buildings in the United States. The private residential building stands at a height of 817 feet and is the second tallest in Florida. This building is perfectly situated right next to the water in downtown Miami. The building was completed even during the Covid-19 pandemic that took over the entire world. This building has all the looks and style that makes Miami stand out.
Panorama Tower
Finally, for now, the Panorama Tower in downtown Miami takes the cake as the tallest building in Florida. Standing at a height of 868 feet, this building was completed in 2017. Panorama Tower is another building that suffered a major setback in the 2008 recession. One of the reasons this project was revamped was thanks to Florida International University opening a campus in downtown Miami. This building is perfectly placed near the ocean in Miami and stands tall above the rest of the state.
Tallest Buildings in Cities Outside of Miami
Even though Miami dominates the list of tallest in Florida, be sure to check out different cities like Jacksonville, Orlando, and Tampa. In Jacksonville, you’ll find the tallest building is the Bank of America Tower, which stands at 617 feet tall. The skyline of Jacksonville also lights up every night and reflects off the Saint Johns River. Down in Tampa, you’ll be able to see 100 North Tampa, the tallest building which stands at a proud height of 579 feet.
Tampa is also an exploding city in the United States, so don’t be surprised to find out there are more buildings being created there. While Orlando is known mostly for being the home to Disney World, you can also lay eyes on 200 South Orange, the 441 foot tallest building. Downtown Orlando copies Jacksonville and uses amazing lights to reflect their skyline off the many lakes in downtown.
There are also two buildings currently under construction in Miami, Waldorf Astoria Miami and Okan Tower, who will both be taller than Panorama Tower in Miami. Florida has a booming population and along with that comes many new buildings. Next time you’re visiting, make sure to check out these towers and appreciate the skylines of each amazing city.
