Tiger Trying to Out Climb a Monkey
At the start of this video, we see a monkey high up in the tree. While this is a normal occurrence for monkeys, this specific monkey is trying to take refuge high up to get away from what is lurking beneath.
Under this monkey is a tiger that has leaped up into the tree and is trying to climb the branches for a delicious meal. According to the American Museum of Natural History, the Bengal tiger “can leap up to 30 feet in the air, climb trees.” No wonder this Bengal tiger was able to get up so far.
The tiger takes slow steps up each branch. Unlike this monkey who just climbed all the way to the top, probably in a matter of seconds, this tiger must take its time. This tiger most likely weighs about 20 times more than this monkey does. One false step would make this tiger go crashing down.
Finally, at 56 seconds, we see this tiger is mere inches away from this monkey. The bravery this monkey has is unparalleled. He’s staring into the face of a predator trying to eat him, and the look on his face is like he’s saying, “Just one more step, come on.”
The tiger takes another step, and the whole branch gives way. He crashes to the ground and comically stares back at the photographer who has been filming him this whole time. As if he couldn’t believe he was caught on camera falling out of a tree.
What’s Unique About the Bengal Tiger Stripes?
One of the most beautiful things about tigers is their fur and the stripes that are on them. Cougar Mountain Zoo adds, “Dominant coat coloration of a Bengal Tiger is orange, white ventral area, and stripes that can vary from brown to black with amber-colored eyes.” While the number of stripes can vary based on where that particular Bengal lives, they approximately have over 100 stripes all across their bodies.
What’s unique about them, though, is that they are like the human fingerprint. Each human’s fingerprint is unique to their own. This is why, for identification purposes, the police use fingerprinting. Well, the same is true of the Bengal tiger’s stripes.
