Discover the 16 Tallest Buildings in Las Vegas

Published By:anonymous Posted On:05/10/2023

Each city in the world has its’ own unique features. Something unique to each city individually is the skyline that represents it. Las Vegas is no different. Whenever someone thinks of Las Vegas, they envision the beautiful casinos that light up the night sky. Unlike most cities, the Las Vegas central hub is comprised of buildings that don’t look the most conventional. The buildings that have been built throughout Las Vegas are more suited to how they look on the outside, not the usability on the inside.

The crazier and more fun they look, the more likely people are going to come in, gamble, eat, and spend time. These eccentric buildings have become known around the world with millions and millions of people coming every year to see them. For those wondering, yes, the Strat is the tallest structure in Las Vegas, but for this article, it won’t be included. While it’s the tallest, the Strat is an observation tower and there’s nothing in between the bottom and top. These are the 16 tallest buildings you can find in Las Vegas.

The Martin

Imagine living in a building that overlooks the Las Vegas Strip. That’s what those who live at The Martin get to experience. Located right across the highway from the Strip, The Martin was built back in 2008 and stands at a very impressive 500 feet. There are 45 floors to pick from when choosing where to live. This is also the only building to crack the top 16 that doesn’t include a hotel or casino in some capacity.

Additionally, one of the most famous hotels on the Las Vegas Strip is the Bellagio. Opening back in 1998, the Bellagio quickly became a staple of Las Vegas, as it’s located in the center of the Strip. The Bellagio is known for its beautiful fountains with dancing waters and different music. This 508-foot-tall casino attracts millions of visitors every year, and with everything the hotel has to offer, it doesn’t appear to be slowing down anytime soon.

Palms Place

In the early and mid-2000s, Las Vegas was experiencing an influx of people deciding to move to it. This created a huge need for condos to be built quickly. Palms Place was finished in 2007, right as the economy crashed. The recession was especially felt in Las Vegas. This is because the world was quick to cut out vacations to try and save money. This 517-foot building was merged with the hotel next door – the Palms. It has become one of the nicest off-the-strip hotels and condos to rent.

New York-New York Hotel and Casino

The 13th tallest building in Las Vegas is also one of the most immediately recognizable. Opened back in 1997, New York-New York brought the east coast vibe. Since the mob once had control over the city, the New York City influence was always there. The tallest building that’s part of this hotel is the Empire State Building which stands at 529 feet tall. There’s a Statue of Liberty replica in front of it, and a roller coaster that takes you both outside and inside. The inside of the casino copies what downtown New York City looks like.

Waldorf Astoria Las Vegas

Undeniably one of the nicest hotels on the strip, the Waldorf Astoria was opened by Hilton back in 2009. This hotel is located near some of the nicest in Las Vegas: the Aria and Vdara. The exterior showcases the detail put into it with the color scheme and design. The hotel and condo shoot up to 560 feet and are known for being next to the famous Crystals Mall. Walking through this mall and hotel gives off a ritzy and upscale vibe.

Vdara

As a close neighbor to the Waldorf Astoria, the Vdara is another very family-friendly hotel in Las Vegas. Standing at 570 feet at its grand opening in 2009, the Vdara is special because it’s one of the few buildings in Las Vegas you can’t smoke in. The Vdara has some of the most amazing technology available, including robots that bring you room service. For those looking for a family-friendly time in Las Vegas, the Vdara is the perfect place to stay.

Elara

The Elara is one of the most amazing timeshare properties in the world. Completed back in 2009, Elara stands next to Planet Hollywood and the Miracle Mile shopping center. One of the best parts of this timeshare resort is the pool where you can relax. In addition, there is direct access to UNLV’s campus, should you be attending an event there. It’s 600 feet of beauty and tied at number nine for tallest buildings in Las Vegas with this next hotel.

Aria Hotel and Casino Las Vegas

Similarly, another hotel that was built back in 2009 is the Aria. While the Aria and Elara share an opening year and height of 600 feet, the Aria holds the title of being one of the nicest casinos in Las Vegas. For example, one of the most impressive parts of the Aria casino is the poker room. This was on purpose, as poker is one of the biggest attractions in Las Vegas for gambling. If you’ve ever wanted to escape into a poker dream, the Aria is the perfect place for you.

The Cosmopolitan Chelsea Tower

These next two hotel towers are part of the Cosmopolitan Hotel and Casino. The Chelsea Tower opened up back in 2010 and is attached to one of the most colorful hotels on the Strip. The Chelsea Tower is where the pool at the Cosmopolitan is located with a beautiful view overlooking Las Vegas. This tower stands at an impressive height of 610 feet.

The Cosmopolitan Boulevard Tower

Equally, the other tower that’s part of the Cosmopolitan is the Boulevard Tower. These two towers are located in the central part of the strip. This gives you access to wherever you’d like to spend time. People will know exactly where you’re talking about when you mention staying inside this 610-foot tower that opened in 2010. Inside the hotel, you’ll find one of the most picturesque places on the Strip – the Chandelier Bar. The bar has a pink tint for candid photo opportunities and it’s located a few feet from Marquee Night Club.

Wynn Las Vegas

The 6th tallest building in Las Vegas is the infamous Wynn Hotel and Casino. The Wynn is arguably the most exclusive and nicest hotel in Las Vegas. The Wynn began serving guests in 2005 and stands at a height of 614 feet. One of the nicest public golf courses is at the Wynn. Unfortunately, it’ll cost you a pretty penny if you wish to play. Overall, there are some of the best shopping options, restaurants, and experiences in Las Vegas at the Wynn.

Trump International Hotel and Resort

Back in 2008, Donald Trump opened his hotel and resort in Las Vegas. Standing at 622 feet, the gold-plated exterior makes it very hard to miss. This hotel is one of the few in Las Vegas that doesn’t have a casino attached to it. Regardless, this doesn’t stop people from visiting.

Encore Las Vegas

The sister hotel to the Wynn comes in as the fourth tallest in Las Vegas. Also opened back in 2008, the Encore stands slightly taller at 638 feet. The Encore has another one of the most noteworthy poker rooms in Las Vegas. Coupled with the poker room, walking around the Encore feels like walking around an indoor jungle with all of the amazing plants inside. The nightlife options at the Encore are truly second to none. These are some of the best day clubs and nightclubs in all of Las Vegas.

The Palazzo

Third in size at 642 feet in Las Vegas is the Palazzo. This is one of the biggest buildings in terms of square footage. It’s second in the world. With a connection to the Venetian Hotel and Casino, the Palazzo is one of the most visited destinations in Las Vegas. The hotel opened up back in 2007 and connects to the Grand Canal Shoppes. The Grand Canal Shoppes are some of the most iconic around. Likewise, those who visit the Palazzo love how easy it is to get around and enjoy all of the Italian food options that are readily available.

Resorts World Las Vegas

One of the newest and most advanced hotels in the world is Resorts World. It opened up in 2021 and didn’t disappoint. There were crowds of people pushing to get in and get a glimpse of the newest and best technology on opening night. Resorts World has an Asian theme with some of the most delicious food. The food court is designed as if it were street vendors preparing the freshest food out there. The mall is one of the fanciest and offers some of the most amazing styles in the world. Furthermore, the entertainment is plentiful. The hotel is home to Katy Perry’s residency as well as many other performers at Zouk nightclub. Resorts World stands at a height of 673 feet and holds the number two spot here.

Fontainebleau Las Vegas

Finally, the tallest building in Las Vegas has been under construction since 2009. It will officially open in late 2023. The reason behind the delay was due to the recession back in 2009, as investors pulled out. During the 12-year hiatus, there was uncertainty regarding the future of the building. Before being picked up, they didn’t know what to do with it. Fortunately, in 2021, the project was picked back up again and has been officially topped out at 735 feet. With all of the technology and features that Resorts World debuted, there’s a lot of hype and pressure on Fontainebleau to deliver. The blue exterior makes it incredibly hard to miss, as this hotel stands at the end of the Las Vegas Strip. Make sure to have a plan to visit, because odds are, you’re going to be blown away by its beauty.

Las Vegas has one of the most booming economies. The opening of the Sphere, sports teams flocking to the city, and countless entertainment options that pop up all the time add to the allure of Las Vegas. This creates many new job opportunities and even more reasons for people to come to Las Vegas. Odds are, there will be new hotels and buildings added to this list in maybe even the near future. For now, these are the tallest buildings. In summary, when planning your next trip to Sin City, make sure to check a few of them out. It’s encouraged to enter these tall buildings and visit as many as you can.
