Mississippi Man Catches Two Giant Bucks Back to Back
It’s not every day that you get to brag about an amazing catch. It’s even more unlikely to get two back to back! However, for this Mississippi hunter, that’s what he was about to do.

Blake Mansour of Tupelo, Mississippi, was able to get a giant 140 pound buck on the opening day of the early archery season on September 15th. He prided himself in this catch, like we can see in the above Facebook post that the High Calibery Tracking & Recovery posted about. They stated that “Blake Mansour hit the deer woods this afternoon and that ole velvet-clad 12 point buck never knew what hit him. He gave us a call to seal the deal, so Josie and Jolene did what they do and had that big ole buck begging for a ride to the freezer.”
After being out there all day, after 5:30 p.m., he reportedly stood up to get some stretches in. This is when he saw this giant buck literally cross his path.
The Clarion Ledger reported, “He ranged the buck at 58 yards and it didn’t appear he would come closer. To make matters worse, the buck seemed to be getting nervous and Mansour only had a small window of opportunity to shoot because he was positioned off the field in woods.” Mansour replied, “It was a now-or-never opportunity.”
However, as if this buck catch wasn’t enough, he did it again on Wednesday, September 22, 2023. Only this time, the buck was even bigger! This one was reportedly 150 pounds.
“Oh man, I’m at a loss for words,” Mansour said. “I sat in a stand two opening days and killed two big deer. I’ll never do it again, but I’m thankful for it.”

Deer (Odocoileus virginiana) of the order Artiodactyla are mammals that range in various sizes according to their species. There are 43 confirmed species of deer. These species can range anywhere from 22-990 pounds and reach 24-206 inches.
The exact number of deer is not readily available to us, as there are too many to count. They are considered to be extremely populous. The best guess is that there are some 36 million in the United States alone.
Of this large number, there are estimated to be 1.75 million in Mississippi alone. According to the Mississippi Department of Wildlife, Fisheries, and Parks, “Mississippi’s deer population is estimated to be 1.75 million, with hunters harvesting approximately 280,000 deer annually.”
