1. Newcastle

Newcastle is in McClain County and borders Oklahoma City to the north. According to the United States Census Bureau, Newcastle saw an 18.8% population change from 2020 to 2022. Its population grew from 10,989 in 2020 to 13,055 in 2022.

Newcastle is a rapidly growing community due to its beautiful location on the Canadian River and its close proximity to Oklahoma City. It is a 15-minute drive from Will Rogers World Airport and within 30 minutes of 20 different college campuses. Although Newcastle itself is small, one fun activity the town offers is visiting the adorable alpacas at the Magnolia and Prayers Ranches.

2. Piedmont

Piedmont is in Canadian County and borders Oklahoma City to the southeast. According to the United States Census Bureau, Piedmont saw a 14.2% population change from 2020 to 2022. Its population increased from 7,394 in 2020 to 8,445 in 2022.

Piedmont’s population is growing due to its close proximity to Oklahoma City and high-performing public schools. One fun attraction in Piedmont is Chester’s Party Barn and Farm, which has farm animals and a massive pumpkin patch.

3. Collinsville

Collinsville is in Rogers and Tulsa Counties. It is just 10 miles north of Tulsa, the second-largest city in Oklahoma. According to the United States Census Bureau, Collinsville saw an 11.9% population change from 2020 to 2022. Its population grew from 7,898 in 2020 to 8,840 in 2022.

Collinsville is a small town, but it is growing due to its proximity to Tulsa. It has several parks, museums, and a library. Additionally, it has beautiful hiking and mountain biking trails around Collinsville Lake.

4. Mustang

Mustang is in Canadian County and borders Oklahoma City on all sides. According to the United States Census Bureau, Mustang saw an 11.8% population change from 2020 to 2022. Its population increased from 19,887 in 2020 to 22,232 in 2022, making it the largest town on this list!

Mustang is growing due to its close proximity to Oklahoma City, where many of its residents work. It has several large and beautiful parks. Additionally, it has a large town center that features a library, recreation center, 55+Active Adult Center, and Conference Center.

5. El Reno

El Reno is the county seat of Canadian County and is just west of Oklahoma City. According to the United States Census Bureau, El Reno saw a 9.2% population change from 2020 to 2022. Its population grew from 16,996 in 2020 to 18,560 in 2022.

Like many other towns on this list, El Reno is growing due to its close proximity to Oklahoma City. It is home to the Canadian County Historical Society Museum and Fort Reno, a historical United States Army cavalry post.
