Ring Camera Catches a Bear Helping Itself Into a Country Home
There are many things you might expect to see on your security system while not at home. You might see a squirrel running by, the mailman delivering the mail, or neighborhood kids playing in the street. However, you probably wouldn’t expect to see a bear. Let alone one that was able to open up your screen door! Let’s see what happened below!
Bear Sighting
The next YouTube video posted below takes us next to a national forest of some kind. The video was uploaded and shared by Ring. Ring is a security company that has a security camera integrated with an electronic doorbell. It allows users to hook the doorbell up to their phone. This gives homeowners peace of mind when they are not home or when they are but are not expecting company. Ring shares a short description of what happened below.
“Rick says his home is next to national forest land and bears are a common sight. However, he was not expecting to see one at his front door when he received a notification on his Ring App while he was away from home. This particular bear is a momma with a cub. They tried to get inside the home but ultimately only left a paw print on the door with no damage.”
Bear Vs. Country Home
At the start of this video posted below, we are able to see the view of this country cabin from the front porch. There are trees all around; this cabin is right by the forest. And where there are forests, there are bound to be bears.
Suddenly, we see a big brown bear appear on the Ring doorbell camera. She walks right up to the front door. Let’s pause there for a moment. We love that she knew exactly where to go, as if it is a common everyday occurrence for her to walk up to a front door. But wait, it gets better.
Not only does she walk up to the front door, she is actually able to get the first screen door open! Even as the door tries to close on this bear, we see her comically hold it open! Can you imagine if this family didn’t have the Ring doorbell and had answered the door because they thought someone was there?
Where are Brown Bears Most Populous?
Brown bears (Ursus arctos) reside in Asia, Eurasia, Europe, and North America. It is estimated they have a population of 190,000 total. There are thought to be about 100,000 brown bears in Russia alone. According to PBS, the United States is home to less than 2,000 of them.
