A Wild Moose Shedding Velvet Spookily Walks Up To Trail Cam And Stairs At It Mysteriously
The next TikTok video posted at the bottom of this blog post shares footage of a moose in the wild. This video was shared by the Spy Point Camera TikTok page. This channel uses “The most advanced trail camera technology while still being the easiest to use.”
On this page, we see various footage from probably all around the United States of a variety of animals. We see footage of animals such as deer, foxes, black bears, and wolves, to name a few.
Wild Moose Vs. Spy Camera
One of the best things about spy cameras, or trail cameras in the woods, is that we get to see raw footage of animals in their natural habitat. When we confine wild animals to enclosures such as a small conservation enclosure or a zoo, we will find that wild animals often act differently. But, without the presence of humans, we are able to see what they are like in the wild on their own.
We see this wild moose barreling through the woods at this video’s start. And his keen sense has him knowing he’s not alone. He soon spots the spy camera that is hung up. This moose wastes no time and walks right up to the camera. Literally, nose to nose with the camera, he stares into the lens.
At eight seconds, this moose gets so close that he is touching the lens. And it is at this point that we can see this moose is shedding velvet. After he reaches his curiosity, he moves right along.
What is Velvet Shedding?
When looking at this video at night, it can be difficult to see what this really is on this moose’s head. It may just look like moss or some other natural substance on his antlers. However, we know this to be velvet shedding.
According to World Deer, velvet shedding can be described as “the dense blood vessels burst and the velvet falls in red rags from the deer’s rack of antlers.” As they aren’t receiving the proper blood flow that they need, the velvet will shed.
It is often asked among people who are not familiar with velvet shedding if it is painful for them. Most research points to it not being a painful experience for these animals.
Head to the video below so that you can watch this experience and now know what velvet shedding is.
