1. California

Bordering Arizona to the west, California is known for its stunning coastline and world-famous cities. From the bustling city of Los Angeles with Hollywood as its main attraction to the pristine beaches of San Diego, there is a lot on offer in California. The state also draws crowds to Disneyland in Anaheim and the Golden Gate Bridge in San Francisco. The border between Arizona and California stretches for about 389 miles, making it easily accessible.

2. Nevada

To the northwest of Arizona is Nevada, and its border with Arizona spans around 113 miles. Nevada is famous for its gambling and entertainment hub, Las Vegas, rightly named ‘Sin City.’ In addition to Las Vegas, other must-see things in the state are Lake Tahoe on the border of California and Nevada, the Hoover Dam on the border of Arizona and Nevada, the Great Basin National Park, known for the oldest pine trees in the world, and the limestone Lehman Caves.

3. Utah

Located to the north of Arizona, Utah is renowned for its national parks, specifically Zion National Park and Bryce Canyon National Park. The parks are popular for their scenic and dramatic landscape comprising canyons and red rocks, along with their spectacular hiking trails. The border between Arizona and Utah stretches for approximately 372 miles.

4. New Mexico

To the east of Arizona lies New Mexico, a state known for its rich Native American heritage. The border between Arizona and New Mexico is around 389 miles long. The capital city of New Mexico, Santa Fe is famous for its Pueblo-style architecture. Also worth a visit is the UNESCO World Heritage Site Taos Pueblo—one of the oldest inhabited communities in the world.

5. Colorado

Bordering Arizona to the northeast, Colorado is known for the Rocky Mountains. The border between Arizona and Colorado stretches for approximately four miles, therefore making it the shortest border among the 5 neighboring states. In addition to Rocky Mountain National Park, where you can enjoy outdoor activities like camping, fishing, wildlife spotting, and skiing, other gems are the historic town of Aspen and the modern capital city, Denver. Another must-do in Colorado is the Million Dollar Highway drive that winds through the San Juan Mountains and showcases absolutely spectacular scenery.
