These Adorable Alpacas Pose for The Camera As They Run By

Have you ever seen someone show off for the camera? Our minds go straight to a Christmas pageant or a recital where a group of children see their families gathered around and filming their performances. And there’s always a few goofy kids that like to show out. Well, animals can be a lot like kids. We’re convinced alpacas, in particular, know they are cute. Let’s see some of their poses in the video below.

Alpacas Show Off For the Camera

This next TikTok video shown just above takes us to South America, where the alpaca (Vicugna pacos) lives. This small herd of alpacas is out grazing for food. As herbivores, they will eat things such as grass or hay. Well, at the start of the video, we see they are coming in. Their owner has opened the gate, and is filming how they run toward the gate to get to where they need to be.

As soon as they get up to the gate, the first alpaca notices there is a huge mud pile, where the rain has gathered. And he surprises us all by leaping over it. We immediately hear the sounds of the woman filming and start laughing, and it soon becomes contagious to all of us watching. Next, every alpaca began to follow suit and leap up over the mud hole in their own fancy way. The best one by far is at 14 seconds when the very last alpaca leaps over but looks at the camera at the same time as if he is posing.

How High Can Alpacas Jump?

The alpaca is a furry mammal that comes in all different colors, as we can see from the video above. They can be brown, black, white, tan, cream, chocolate, caramel, beige, chestnut, and a whole bunch of other colors as well.

Besides being adorable, these animals are known for their ability to run up to speeds of 35 miles per hour! This gives them the ability to steer clear of predators such as wolves, coyotes, and bears that would prey on them. However, it also helps to give them the running start they need to jump high.

According to the New South Wales Department of Education, alpacas can leap as high as 1 meter (about 3.3 feet high.) And so if you have alpacas in your care, you want to have a fence that’s at least 1.2 meters (3.94 feet) high. They also warn not to put up a barbed wire fence. Animals like these that have the ability to jump high can be seriously injured if the fence is meant to cause harm. It’s only natural for them to try and jump, and we wouldn’t want to do anything that might hurt them.
