Ban Chao, born in 32 AD in Fufeng County (present-day Shaanxi, China), was an accomplished explorer, diplomat, and military general of the Eastern Han Dynasty. Starting as an assistant to his brother Ban Gu, a historian, but he felt that this job was not suitable for him at that time.
