A man from Zheng Buys Shoes
This story tells about a man from Zheng who would rather believe in a rigid size than his own feet, and as a result, he couldn't buy shoes. It is often used to satirize those who do things rigidly and don't know how to adapt to the actual situation.
Once upon a time, there was a man from Zheng who wanted to buy a new pair of shoes.
In order to ensure that he bought the right size, he measured the size of his feet with a rope in advance and carefully placed the measured size on a chair.
However, when he excitedly rushed to the market and started to choose shoes, he suddenly found that he had forgotten to bring the crucial size.
Faced with the shoes he had already chosen, the man from Zheng was in a dilemma.
In the end, he decided to return home to get the size.
Although some people advised him to try on the shoes directly with his feet to see if they fit, the man from Zheng was stubborn and insisted that only the measured size was the most reliable.
So he hurried back home and got the size back.
However, when he returned to the market again, the market had been closed and he did not buy the shoes in the end.
This story tells us that when dealing with problems, we should pay attention to objective reality and be flexible, and not stick to dogma or conventions. Only in this way can we better cope with various challenges and difficulties in life.
