Are you spending some time on Long Island this autumn? Whether you’re someone who’s looking to escape the city for a while or just a local in need of a new spot to discover, Long Island has a wealth of fall activities to keep your itinerary full. The east end is home to pumpkin patches, haunted houses, corn mazes, cider houses, and everything in between. However, nothing embodies fall on Long Island quite as well as spending time in an apple orchard. Today we’ll be discussing the top seven spots for apple picking on Long Island, in no particular ranked order.

Harbes Orchard’s tagline is “Apple picking at its best,” and it’s hard not to agree! This iconic orchard has everything you could ever ask for from a family farm. There are farm animals, hay rides, wine tastings, corn mazes, pony rides, and over 25 different varieties of apples available to pick. Harbe’s Family Farm has several locations, but the orchard itself is located in Riverhead. Be sure to check out their Jamesport and Mattituck locations too after you’ve secured your apples.
2. Lewin Farms

Lewin Farms was the first pick-your-own farm to open on Long Island, making it a piece of local history as well as a wonderful orchard. Apple picking is available in early fall, but Lewin Farms also offers a variety of fruits and vegetables available to purchase throughout the year, such as “blackberries, sweet corn, potatoes, peaches, nectarines, cauliflower, broccoli,” and much more. It is recommended to call in advance to get the most accurate information about the orchard’s hours of operation.
