See an Incredible Showdown Between A Giant Elephant And a Pesky Rhino

The clip begins by showing an elephant and a rhinoceros in a standoff in the jungle. Both look tense and ready to fight. After a few moments of silence, the elephant begins to slowly walk toward the rhinoceros menacingly.

Out of fear, the rhino lunges toward the elephant, attempting to take a swipe with its tough horn. The elephant quickly reacts to this, lunging forward and knocking the rhinoceros off balance. As the rhino hits the ground, the elephant begins pushing into it with its powerful tusks.

After some intense fighting, the rhino gets up and begins to run away. The clip ends with the camera panning between the rhino who runs away in fear, and the elephant who lazily begins to walk away from the scene.

How Big Are Elephants?

As a whole, they are considered to be the largest land animals on Earth! Aside from whales and other large aquatic creatures, they are also among some of the biggest animals in the world.

African elephants are by far the biggest species in the world, with adult males weighing in at around 6,000 kg on average! In terms of height, adults are also tall, with maximum heights of around 3 meters.

Babies are also fairly large in comparison to other animals. Just after birth, young elephants can weigh up to 120 kg.

Body size can differ based on species and sex. Most notably, females are almost always smaller in both weight and height as compared to males. Likewise, the three main species all have different average sizes. The African bush elephant is the largest of the three, while the Asian elephant is the smallest.

Do Elephants Often Fight?

They are usually docile and well-mannered animals. Unless they are directly threatened, they do not tend to pick fights. With that said, when they perceive a threat nearby, they can get extremely aggressive, using both their weight and their tusks to launch a defense.

In addition to defense, they often fight other members of their own species. More specifically, males will use their tusks to compete in intense brawls with other males. These fights can be extremely dangerous and often result in injury. Many seasoned males will have tusks that are damaged or even partially missing. At the end of the day, the males who are the most aggressive tend to win the brawls and catch the eyes of the nearest females!
