The World's Kindest Otter Helps a Janitor Clean Up

When we think of kind gestures we often envision scenarios such as the following. Someone paying it forward in the Starbucks line, a kind family member helping with an overdue bill, or even something as simple as your child attempting to make you pancakes for breakfast.

However, kindness doesn’t stop at humans. Animals are capable of emotions and feelings as well. According to Oxford Academic, “Current interdisciplinary research provides compelling evidence that many animals experience such emotions as joy, fear, love, despair, and grief—we are not alone.” Let’s take a look at the kindness this otter showed toward a janitor below.

Zoo Park Cleanup Duty

The TikTok video posted just above shares footage of a zoo park employee cleaning up. The Miami Vybe305 TikTok channel reposted this video and it has received close to 200,000 views already! This page regularly reshares content of animals all the way from Africa to local zoos as seen in the video above.

Otter Helps a Janitor Clean Otter Enclosure

As the video starts out we see this is some type of animal enclosure. Our guess is that it is a local zoo based on how the surroundings look. The janitor has made her way into the otter section, and she’s cleaning up.

Inside this pool are otters swimming around. And there are traffic cones that are floating in the pool. Likely the toys that the trainers use to play around with the otters. One by one the otters bring the traffic cones in and place them on the edge of the pool. They know it’s clean-up time, and they want to help!

One TikTok follower wittily stated, “I love Otters, but they got a DARK SIDE.” Let’s see just how rowdy these little fellows can get!

Are Otters Aggressive?

Otters are often viewed as the adorable little munchkins that they are. After all, who could resist a face like the one in the image above? However, these mammals can weigh up to 100 pounds, have 32 teeth, and have retractable claws. Like most animals they can become aggressive when they feel threatened, their territory is crossed, or their babies are in danger.

The National Library of Medicine even reports an incident where a river otter (Lontra canadensis) attacked a 52-year-old woman unprovoked. The otter “began to aggressively pursue her, biting and scratching both of her legs before she could escape. The woman sustained numerous deep, open wounds on her legs.”

So, even though otters are cute, we can’t deny that. They are still wild animals and should be respected as such. We can love and admire them from afar at the zoo or there on TikTok in the video posted at the top!
