Discover India's Tallest Building (and Where It Ranks Among the World's Giants)
When you go to big cities, you’ll see there are tall buildings everywhere. These skyscrapers adorn the city making you think you are in a concrete jungle. These skyscrapers are all over the world as if people are competing to become the ones that built the tallest building. When it comes to India, the Palais Royale is the country’s tallest building. Let’s take a look at India’s tallest building and where it ranks among the world’s giants.
About Palais Royale
The Palais Royale is a super-tall skyscraper in the Worli neighborhood of Mumbai, India. It is currently 1,050 ft tall and has 88 floors. The building is technically under construction as it started in 2007. The top of the building was finished in 2018, but the interior and facade of the building are still being worked on.
The reason why the building is still in construction (or at least the interior of it) is because there were several lawsuits filed in the mid-2010s. The Supreme Court of India, however, recently ruled that the sale to the company called Honest Shelters at an auction in 2019 was deemed correct. There will be 164 apartments upon its completion and 76 have already been bought.
How does it Compare to Others?
The Palais Royale, although it is under construction, is considered the tallest building in India. At 1,050 feet tall, it is 62 feet taller than the next tallest building — Lokhandwala Minerva. It may be the tallest building in India, but it is not the tallest building in Asia or even the world. Let’s take a look at where it stands in comparison to other buildings in the world.
One World Trade Center
One of the tallest buildings in the world and the tallest building in North America is the One World Trade Center in New York City. It measures a whopping 1,776 feet tall. The building was finished in 2014 and has 104 floors. It is currently the 7th tallest building in the world.
Worldwide
There are many tall buildings located in Asia, and especially in China. But none of them compare to the tallest building in Asia and in the world. The Burj Khalifa measures a whopping 2,717 feet tall with 163 stories. It is located in Dubai, UAE and it was completed in 2010.
Conclusion
And there you have it, India’s tallest building is called the Palais Royale. The top of the building is complete, but it is technically under construction. It is unknown when the building will be complete as the Supreme Court upheld the sale in 2019. Many expect it to be finished in 2024, but only time will tell. Located in Mumbai, the Palais Royale, upon its completion, will be a wonder to behold.
