Fall is possibly the best season of the year. The weather cools down significantly throughout the United States and in most places, leaves change into vivid reds, yellows, and oranges. Leaves start changing color in September and October. Autumn doesn’t just provide spectacular fall foliage throughout the country, but also fall festivals, and family-friendly pumpkin patches! New Mexico is no exception. Follow along to discover the six best pumpkin patches in New Mexico and when to visit.

1. McCall’s Pumpkin Patch

One of the best pumpkin patches in New Mexico is McCall’s Pumpkin Patch in Moriarty. McCall’s Pumpkin Patch story began in 1996 with Kevin McCall who started a farm in Moriarty. Before this, he worked on a hog farm in Estancia with his grandfather. One of the first plants he planted on the farm were pumpkins, which he also sold in grocery stores. One day, Vici Shoemaker brought her young students to McCall’s farm. Kevin McCall put together a wagon and a tractor and took the kids to see the pumpkin field. Their excitement inspired McCall and years later, this pumpkin patch still flourishes.

McCall’s Pumpkin Patch features a lot of unique attractions, not just its incredible pumpkin patch. It’s a paradise for kids and families. You can enjoy the wooden train playground, sound garden, 15-acre corn maze, pedal kart track, sports barn, and hayrides. For horror lovers, the farm also hosts a haunted farm attraction in October during the weekends.

2. Mesilla Valley Maze

Next on our list of the best pumpkin patches in New Mexico is another local favorite, the Mesilla Valley Maze in Doña Ana County. This fantastic fall experience features 30 acres of family fun. Not only can you pick pumpkins at the pumpkin patch, but also enjoy a corn maze, duck races, face painting, gem mining, and hayrides. Also in the Mesilla Valley Maze is Katie’s Country Store. Parking is free, but there is an entry fee. The 2023 season runs from September 30th to October 29th and is open on weekends only from 11 a.m. to 7 p.m.

Also hosted in the Mesilla Valley Maze by Lyles Farm is the 14th Annual New Mexico Pumpkin Festival. Here you can enjoy delicious food, fantastic music, and the unique, Tour de Maze.

3. Graves Farm & Garden

Although in no particular order, the third pumpkin patch on our list is hosted by the Graves Farm & Garden. The Graves Farm & Garden is in Roswell, New Mexico. It’s an excellent farm and garden known for its delicious and fresh green chile peppers. The family has been farming for four generations but has been serving the community for nearly three decades.

Not only do they grow and provide delicious, high-quality fresh produce, but also host fun events like the Farm Festival, Corn Maze, Zombie Paintball Shoot Hayride, and the Farmers Market & Chile Cheese Festival.

The corn maze is even spookier and more challenging at night! The Haunted Corn Maze opens on the first of October. Field trips and birthday parties are also available.

5. Galloping Goat Pumpkin Patch

Can you believe our list of the best pumpkin patches in New Mexico is coming to an end? The fifth, and almost final location on our list is the Galloping Goat Pumpkin Patch in Rio Rancho. This small, but charming, pumpkin patch is open daily from 9 a.m. to 6 p.m. starting on September 30th and ending on the last day of October.
