The Ballina Byron Gateway Airport makes approximately 68 flights per week. The airport has four airline partners and will fly to Sydney, Newcastle, Dubbo, Canberra, and Melbourne. Because of its limited airline partners and destinations, the airport has one runway, but it serves about 440,000 passengers annually.

Hungry or thirsty passengers can find food and drinks at the airport’s grill. There is also a travel essentials store to buy last-minute gifts, books, or necessities. Ballina provides several different transportation options to and from the airport as well, with a variety of rental car services, shuttle buses, taxis, and limousines.

4. Coffs Harbour Airport

The city of Coffs Harbour is located in the Mid-North Coast region of New South Wales. It has just one airport. In effect, the Coffs Harbour Airport serves the area for its regional flights in and out of the city via one of the three airlines that service it. The airlines, Qantas, Rex, and Link Airways, serve to bring passengers to the bigger airlines that travel internationally.

Though the airport is mostly a regional one, it has two runways, an arrival terminal and departure terminal, a cafe and souvenir shop, and a meeting room. Coffs Harbour Airport has served about 354,000 passengers and made over 17,000 flights annually.

5. Albury Airport

It’s a regional airport with connections to international airports, like the Sydney Kingsford Smith International Airport.

This airport has one runway and four airlines — Qantas, Air Berlin, FlyPelican, and Rex Regional Express. Inside the airport, there is a meeting room and a café and bar. Surprisingly, the airport also gives flying lessons to anyone interested.

Operating out of the coastal city of Port Macquarie, the Port Macquarie Airport offers connections and direct flights to Sydney, Brisbane, Lord Howe Island, and Melbourne. The four airlines that service the airport are QantasLink, Rex, Eastern Air Services, and Bonza Airlines. Its 5,203-foot runway makes the airport one of the largest in New South Wales.

Port Macquarie Airport houses a flight lounge café and bar for travelers. Serving about 225,000 passengers a year, the airport is one of the biggest but only ranks as the sixth busiest in New South Wales. There are almost 5,000 flights made per year from and to this airport.
