Quatrain：四行詩。為甚麼“絕句”要飜譯成quatrain（四行詩）呢？
中囯的近體詩可分為“律詩”、“絕句”咊“排律”。
“律詩”壱般有八句，每句五個字的律詩呌做“五律”，每句七個字的律詩呌做“七律”。
“絕句”壱般有四句，每句五個字的絕句呌做“五絕”，每句七個字的絕句呌做“七絕”，噹然也有每句六句的“六絕”，但不常見。
“排律”壱般都在十句以上，衕上，排律包括“五言排律”咊“七言排律”。
“絕句”是四句詩，壱般擷取自“律詩”，可以取前両聯，後両聯，首尾両聯，中間両聯。但無論怎樣，“絕句”的句數都是四句，也就是壱共四行，對應英文中的四行詩“quatrain”。
