从前，有个萨桑王国，国王山努亚治国有方，深受百姓的爱戴。

Once upon a time, there was a Sassanid kingdom. King Shanuya ruled the country well and was deeply loved by the people.

但是他的王后却带着他的奴仆和侍女背叛了他，国王非常生气，一怒之下杀死了那些奴仆和侍女，王后也被杀死了。

But his queen betrayed him with his slaves and maids. The king was very angry and killed those slaves and maids in a rage. The queen was also killed.

从此之后，山努亚每天娶一个美丽的女子，等到第二天就将这个女子残忍地杀掉。然后再娶一个。

From then on, Shanuya married a beautiful woman every day, and then cruelly killed the woman the next day. Then he married another one.

就这样过了三年，城里的女子都出逃了，山努亚逼着宰相为他寻找女子。

After three years, all the women in the city fled, and Shanuya forced the prime minister to find women for him.

这天，国王又命令宰相寻找女子，可是整个国家的女子不是被杀就是逃走了，可怜的宰相如果不能按时完成任务，就会受到惩罚。

On this day, the king ordered the prime minister to find women again, but the women in the whole country were either killed or fled. If the poor prime minister could not complete the task on time, he would be punished.

宰相有个女儿叫山鲁佐德，她知书达理，非常孝顺。知道父亲的难处后就对父亲说：“把我嫁给国王吧。”

The prime minister had a daughter named Scheherazade, who was well-educated and very filial. After knowing her father's difficulties, she said to him: "Marry me to the king."

宰相连连拒绝，说道：“嫁给国王会被杀掉的！你不能冒险！”

The prime minister refused again and again, saying: "If you marry the king, you will be killed! You can't take risks!"

山鲁佐德说：“父亲不用担心，或许我能和他长久地活下去。”

Scheherazade said: "Don't worry, father, maybe I can live with him for a long time."

国王见到山鲁佐德很漂亮就奖赏了宰相。

The king rewarded the prime minister when he saw that Scheherazade was very beautiful.

到了晚上，山鲁佐德请求讲故事给国王听，国王同意了。当讲到最精彩的时候，天亮了。

At night, Scheherazade asked to tell the king a story, and the king agreed. When she was telling the most exciting story, it was dawn.

她说：“若国王让我活下去，下一夜的故事会更有趣呢。”国王同意了。

She said: "If the king lets me live, the story of the next night will be more interesting." The king agreed.

从此，山鲁佐德每天都给国王讲故事，国王也一夜夜地听下去。就这样她一共讲了一千零一夜。

From then on, Scheherazade told the king stories every day, and the king listened to them night after night. In this way, she told stories for a total of one thousand and one nights.

国王被感动了，他对山鲁佐德说：“我决定不杀你了，你的故事让我很感动，我将把他记录下来，永远保存。”

The king was moved, and he said to Scheherazade: "I have decided not to kill you. Your story touched me very much. I will record it and keep it forever."

于是便有了《一千零一夜》这本童话故事书。.
