用英語講故事| Castle in The Air空中樓閣
A long time ago, there was a rich man in a mountain village. He was very rich but dull by nature and often did stupid things.
One day he visited another rich man in the neighboring village. He saw a new three-story house, which was very spacious and bright. He also wanted to have such a big house.
After he returned home, he immediately sent for the craftsmen and asked, "Was that three-story big house in the neighboring village built by you? I also want to build an identical three-story building." The craftsmen agreed and started to be busy with their own tasks.
One day, the rich man came to have a look around and was very puzzled. He asked the craftsmen who were laying the foundation, "What are you doing?" The craftsman said, "We are building the three-story big house as you ordered!"
The rich man said, "No, no. I want the house on the third floor. I don't want the bottom two floors. Take them down quickly." After hearing this, the craftsmen laughed loudly and said, "Just the top floor? We can't build it." The craftsmen left. The foolish rich man stared blankly at the foundation. He didn't know that just the top floor without the bottom two floors couldn't be built by even the most brilliant craftsmen!
