Putting Crystals in Your Drinking Water: What You Need to Know
Putting crystals in drinking water has been popular since 2018. Crystals have always been connected to spirituality, ritual, and ceremony. There are stories of the benefits of putting certain stones in water and drinking it later.
However, in 2018, this ritual came into the limelight. Vanity Fair discussed the growing trend of crystals placed in water bottles, and celebrities like Gwyneth Paltrow, Miranda Kerr, and Victoria Beckham have all jumped on the trend as well.
If you want to understand the benefits that are said to come from putting a crystal in your water bottle, and some of the dangers to watch out for, this article has the information for you.
Why Put Crystals in Your Drinking Water?
There are many theories behind the benefits of crystals in your drinking water and water bottle. It’s said to help a lot with mental health, including improving stress and depression.
Depending on the stone you use, there are other benefits as well, including helping to build up your immune system, reducing physical and chronic pain, and improving both memory and focus.
There’s not a lot of research on the subject. Studies that have been done haven’t produced any solid evidence supporting the benefits of the crystals. However, there are theories. If crystals do work, there are some ideas on how and why that might be. The main one is that stones, quartz especially, absorb energy.
This has been proven true. Bits of quartz are used in watches, phones, and other technology because of their ability to absorb energy from pressure, light, and heat and turn it into electric energy.
It’s thought that when quartz and crystals are placed in water, the frequencies and energy the stones absorb create a change in the water.
Of course, there’s always also the placebo effect as well. While this term has a bad rap, it’s actually an interesting behavior in our bodies. Studies have shown that simply believing something is working helps to release endorphins, dopamine, and natural oxytocin straight into our brains.
So at the very least, drinking crystal water, if you believe in it, will help you feel like you’re in a better mood and maybe even eliminate some low-level pain.
How to Use a Crystal in Your Water Bottle
There are a few ways to use crystals in your water bottle. There are a few bottles out there that are made specifically for that purpose. Some bottles have a stone already glued to the bottom, while others have a dome that allows you to insert crystals into a slot.
However, both are quite expensive, for a water bottle. There’s another option as well. You can take an open-mouthed water bottle and put the crystal in yourself.
Most of the time, the stone only takes 7 to 10 minutes before the crystal starts working. So you may just need to wake up a few minutes early to drop in the stone and add it to your morning routine.
Fill up your bottle, place the crystal in, and let it sit overnight. Then, it’s up to you whether you leave it in throughout the day or take it out before you leave the house. It’s also recommended that you charge your crystal before using it. This is because charging the stone is what ensures that you get the right kind of energy.
There are a few options. The easiest one is to simply hold your stone for a few minutes. While you’re holding it, you just have to think good thoughts. Other options include placing the stone in direct sunlight for an hour, placing it inside a bowl of salt for the night, or using charged sounds like a singing bowl, drum, or bell.
