There are way too many stunning cities in the U.S. that decorate and host holiday events to choose from. It’s hard to decide which cities and towns to visit, and for how long! To make it easier, we have compiled a list of 10 American cities that go all out for Christmas.

A magical city perfect for spreading holiday cheer with stunning light displays and beautiful mountains in Asheville, North Carolina. Asheville hosts many events including Christmas at Biltmore, the Polar Express Train, Winter Lights at the NC Arboretum, and many more local holiday markets and festivals. If you’re lucky, you may even see snow on your stay.

Branson, Missouri

Next on our list of 10 American cities that go all out for Christmas is Branson, Missouri. This gorgeous city lights up during the holidays. Throughout the city, you can find large and colorful light displays. A favorite for many is the “An Old Time Christmas” festival, which features parades, millions of festive lights, and around 40 Christmas productions.

Bethlehem, Pennsylvania

Another must-visit American city that goes all out for Christmas is Bethlehem, Pennsylvania. With a name like that, it’s hard to imagine the city any other way. While at Bethlehem, visitors can explore two holiday markets, participate in the Christmas City Stroll, and keep up with the city’s Live Advent Calendar.

St. Louis, Missouri

If you can, visit St. Louis, Missouri during the holidays. St. Louis has a lot of history and during Christmas time transforms into a lovely winter wonderland. Things to do within St. Louis during the holidays are the Ameren Missouri Festival of Lights, holiday pop-up bars, and the Maplewood Christmas Tree Walk.

Durango, Colorado

For lovers of snow and winter sports, Colorado is a must-visit state. Within Colorado is Durango, which has a long list of things to do near and on Christmas. During the entire month of December, and even into January, visitors can meet Santa, explore farmer’s and holiday markets, and sip and eat delicious festive treats.

North Pole, Alaska

There is no better fitting state to describe Christmas and snowy winters than Alaska. This gorgeous and massive state is home to a small city uniquely named, the North Pole! Yes, as in where Santa resides. As you can imagine the North Pole is full of holiday cheer and Christmas-themed events. You don’t have to wait till November or December to visit this cheerful city though as it’s Christmas at the North Pole, all year round.

Duluth, Minnesota

Minnesota is home to many charming cities and towns, but none like Duluth. This port city has so many fun things to do, especially in December. Visitors can spend hours exploring the city and seeing the many holiday lights. Duluth though has more than just lights. Other holiday activities include walking through European-style winter markets, admiring the Christmas City of the North nighttime parade, and riding the North Shore Scenic Railroad’s Christmas City Express.

Dallas, Texas

Dallas is a great city to visit, regardless of the season. While most people visit for the nightlife, historic sites, and delicious food, their Christmas events are also eye-catching. Nearly everywhere in the city has decorations, including large trees that light up at night. Visitors and residents can also attend various Christmas tree lighting ceremonies. In the center of Galleria Mall is also a 95-foot tall Christmas tree which is surrounded by an ice skating ring.

Park City, Utah

While at Park City, you can visit Santa, view the Christmas tree lighting ceremony, and hop on the North Pole Express train ride. Park City is also an excellent place to enjoy winter sports as it’s surrounded by ski resorts.

It’s the city that never sleeps! Staying just a few days is not enough time to see everything this vibrant city has to offer, especially near Christmas. The streets are lively and filled with bright and colorful lights. Many people recommend visiting either the New York Botanical Garden GLOW or the Rockefeller Center to see the massive trees.
