The Apple Law that affects one's life

Time:July 25, 2024

If you have a pile of apples, some good and some bad, you should eat the good ones first and throw away the rotten ones. If you eat the bad ones first, the good ones will also go bad, and you'll never taste the good ones. This is the Apple Law. The Apple Law tells us that people must be good at making choices and remember to do the most important things in their lives first. Think carefully, how many opportunities in life have we missed, and how many important things have we given up. Each stage has different goals, and finding the most critical and important task in the present is a person's greatest ability.

When faced with numerous tasks, learn to prioritize those that are most critical to your growth, happiness, or goal achievement. "Your time is limited, so don't waste it living someone else's life." Only by clarifying your core values and pursuits can you remain sober and make choices that are most beneficial to yourself.

"Life is like a book. Fools flip through it casually, while wise men read it intently, knowing that this book can only be read once." At every stage of life, we have specific missions and pursuits, whether it's a breakthrough in academics, a promotion in our careers, or harmony in family relationships. We need to identify and focus on these core priorities because they constitute the most valuable parts of our lives. Just as Thomas Edison endured thousands of failures before inventing the light bulb, he remained focused on this goal and ultimately illuminated the world.

"Don't cry over spilled milk." This is the attitude we should have when faced with irreparable losses. The courage to let go and cut losses in a timely manner is the key to preventing "sunk costs" from expanding further and maintaining the momentum to move forward. As Stephen Covey said in "The 7 Habits of Highly Effective People," "True effectiveness comes from the adherence to the priority of first things first."
