英语绘本 ▏每日一读之《狐假虎威 The Fox Takes Advantage Of The Tiger's Might》
森林里有一只凶猛的大老虎，所有的动物都很怕它。
There was a ferocious tiger in the forest, and all animals were afraid of it.
一天老虎捉住了一只狐狸，想要吃掉它。
One day the tiger caught a fox and wanted to eat it.
狐狸眼珠一转，想出了个主意。对老虎说：“我是天帝派来的使者，你要是敢吃我，你一定会受到惩罚的。”
The fox rolled his eyes and came up with an idea. He said to the tiger: "I am a messenger sent by Emperor. If you dare to eat me, you will be punished."
老虎不肯相信，狐狸说：“你要是不信，就跟在我的身后看野兽们是不是看见我就吓得落荒而逃。”
The tiger refused to believe it, and the fox said: "If you don't believe it, just follow me and see if the wild animals will be scared and run away when they see me."
于是，狐狸昂着头大摇大摆地走在前面，老虎小心翼翼地在后面跟着。
So the fox walked in front with his head held high, and the tiger followed carefully behind.
一路上所有的野兽看见狐狸身后的大老虎都吓得转身就跑。
Along the way, all the wild animals turned around and ran away when they saw the big tiger behind the fox.
狐狸得意地对老虎说：“这回你相信了吧？”老虎连连点头。狐狸于是大摇大摆地离开了。
The fox said to the tiger proudly: "Do you believe it this time?" The tiger nodded repeatedly. The fox then left in a swagger.
后来人们常常用狐假虎威这个成语来形容，借着别人的威势，欺负弱小、作威作福的人。
Later, people often used the idiom "The Fox Takes Advantage Of The Tiger's Might" to describe people who bully the weak and act arrogantly by borrowing the power of others.
