英语绘本 ▏每日一读之《西游记—通天河受阻 Tongtian River Is Blocked》

Time：August 11, 2024

唐僧师徒四人一路西行。

Tang Priest and his four disciples traveled westward.

这天，他们被一条宽阔的大河挡住了去路。河旁有一块石碑，上面写着：通天河。

One day, they were blocked by a wide river. There was a stone tablet beside the river, which read: Tongtian River.

河上没有桥，也没有船，唐僧十分着急。八戒指着远处说道：“师父那边鼓钹声，我们去问问情况，顺便找点吃的东西吧。”

There was no bridge or boat on the river, and Tang Priest was very anxious. Bajing looked at the distance and said, "Master, there are drums and cymbals over there. Let's go ask about the situation and find something to eat."

不一会儿，他们就看到一户人家。唐僧敲开大门，对主人说：“我们可否在这借宿一晚？听到这里鼓锣声，请问是府里出了什么事吗？”

After a while, they saw a family. Tang Priest knocked on the door and said to the owner, "Can we stay here for one night? I heard the drums and gongs here. Is there something wrong in the mansion?"

主人边哭边回答道：“是在给我家即将进献给灵感大王的两个孩子做斋事。”

The owner cried and replied, "It's for my two children who are about to be presented to the King of Inspiration."

悟空说：“你把孩子抱出来我看看。”不一会孩子被抱出来了。悟空看了看孩子说了一声：“变！”悟空就变成了男孩的模样。

Wukong said, "Bring the child out for me to see." After a while, the child was brought out. Wukong looked at the child and said, "Change!" Then Wukong turned into this boy.

这时，主人的弟弟领着女儿来了，他站在门口痛哭，求悟空也救救自己的女儿。

At this time, the owner's younger brother brought his daughter. He stood at the door and cried, begging Wukong to save his daughter.

悟空乐呵呵地说：“你快去准备些上好斋饭，让我师弟吃饱了，好变成你的女儿。”

Wukong said cheerfully: "Go and prepare some good vegetarian food, so that my junior brother can eat enough and become your daughter."

吃饱喝足后，悟空对八戒说道：“八戒，你快试试。”八戒喊了一声：“变！”就变成了女孩的模样。

After eating and drinking, Wukong said to Pigsy: "Pigsy, try it." Pigsy shouted: "Change!" and turned into a girl.

村里人把他们俩抬到了灵感庙。

The villagers carried them to Linggan Temple.

不久，只听见呼呼的风声，大家喊：“妖怪来了！”

Soon, they heard the sound of whistling wind, and everyone shouted: "The monster is coming!"

妖怪奇怪的说道：“今年的男童胆子这么大？我先吃女童好了。”说着就去抓八戒。

The monster said strangely: "This year's boys are so brave? I'll eat the girls first." Then he went to catch Pigsy.

八戒吓得急忙现出原形，悟空也现出原形去打妖怪。悟空说道：“妖怪，你吃了多少男童女童？快快拿命来！”

Pigsy was so scared that he quickly showed his true form, and Wukong also showed his true form to fight the monster. Wukong said: "Monster, how many boys and girls have you eaten? Come on and give me your life!"

妖怪打不过他们，化成一阵风逃到了通天河里。

The monster couldn't beat them, so he turned into a gust of wind and fled to Tongtian River.

妖怪吃了败仗，这时，一个鳜（gui）鱼婆献计道：“大王，你降雪把通天河冻上，再让小妖怪变成人在河上走，唐僧一定会上当的。只要他们在冰上走，大王就可以抓到他们了。”

The monster was defeated. At this time, a Siniperca chuatsi lady offered a suggestion: "My king, you can make the Tongtian River freeze by making snowfall, and then let the little monsters turn into people and walk on the river. Tang Priest will definitely be fooled. As long as they walk on the ice, my king can catch them."

唐僧果然上了妖怪的当，被妖怪抓了去。

Tang Priest was fooled by the monster and was captured by the monster.

无奈之下，悟空只好飞到南海求菩萨帮忙。菩萨用一根丝带拴住篮子，然后扔到河中，嘴里念着：“死的去，活的住。”

In desperation, Wukong had to fly to the South China Sea to ask the Bodhisattva for help. The Bodhisattva tied the basket with a ribbon and threw it into the river, chanting: "The dead go, and the living stay."

不一会，菩萨提起篮子，只见里面多了一条金鱼。悟空谢过菩萨，和八戒、沙僧一起救出了师父。

After a while, the Bodhisattva picked up the basket and saw a goldfish in it. Wukong thanked the Bodhisattva and rescued his master together with Pigsy and Sandy.

师徒四人正在愁如何过河，一只神龟浮出水面说：“我送你们过河。”唐僧和徒弟们坐在神龟的背上顺利地渡过了通天河。

The four masters and apprentices were worrying about how to cross the river. A divine turtle surfaced and said: "I will take you across the river." Tang Priest and his apprentices sat on the back of the divine turtle and successfully crossed the Tongtian River.

上岸后，唐僧对神龟说道：“等我取经回来后再好好谢谢你。”神龟说道：“不用谢我，师父只需帮我问问佛祖，我什么时候可以修炼得道。”

After landing, Tang Priest said to the tortoise: "I will thank you after I get back from my pilgrimage." The tortoise said: "You don't need to thank me. Master, just ask the Buddha for me when I can practice and attain enlightenment."
