Pulling Up Seedlings to Help Them Grow

意思是把禾苗拔起来，帮助其成长。也比喻违反事物的发展规律，急于求成，最后事与愿违。

It means to pull up the seedlings to help them grow. It also refers to violating the laws of development of things, being impatient for success, and finally getting the opposite of what you want.

从前，有一个农夫，他种了一片稻田。

Once upon a time, there was a farmer who planted a rice field.

农夫每天都精心照料着这些稻苗，希望它们能快点长大，好早点收获稻谷。

The farmers take good care of the rice seedlings every day, hoping that they can grow quickly so that they can harvest the rice early.

但是他每天去田里看稻苗，总觉得它们长得太慢了。

But every day when he went to the fields to check on the rice seedlings, he always felt that they were growing too slowly.

他非常着急，心想有没有什么办法能让稻苗快点长大。

He was very anxious and wondered if there was any way to make the rice seedlings grow faster.

有一天，农夫突然想到了一个“好主意”。

One day, the farmer suddenly came up with a "good idea".

他决定亲自帮助稻苗生长，于是他走到田里，把每一棵稻苗都往上拔高了一点。

He decided to help the rice seedlings grow himself, so he went to the field and pulled each rice seedling up a little bit.

他认为这样做，稻苗就能更快地吸收阳光和空气，从而长得更快。

He believed that by doing this, the rice seedlings would be able to absorb sunlight and air more quickly and thus grow faster.

农夫忙活了一整天，累得满头大汗，但他看着被自己“帮助”过的稻苗，心里非常高兴，觉得自己做了一件很聪明的事。

The farmer worked all day and was exhausted and sweating, but when he looked at the rice seedlings he had "helped", he was very happy and felt that he had done a very smart thing.

然而，第二天农夫再去田里时，发现了一件让他非常沮丧的事：所有的稻苗都枯萎了。

However, when the farmer went to the field again the next day, he found something that made him very depressed: all the rice seedlings had withered.

原来，农夫的做法破坏了稻苗的生长规律，反而导致稻苗无法正常生长。

It turned out that the farmer's practice disrupted the growth pattern of the rice seedlings, causing the rice seedlings to be unable to grow normally.

农夫这才明白，自己急于求成，反而弄巧成拙。

The farmer then realized that his haste to achieve success had only backfired.

他后悔自己没有耐心等待稻苗自然生长，而是采取了这种违背自然规律的做法。

He regretted that he did not have the patience to wait for the rice seedlings to grow naturally, but instead took this approach that went against the laws of nature.

这个故事告诉我们：做事情不能急于求成，要尊重事物发展的客观规律，循序渐进。如果我们过于急躁，违背了自然的规律，反而会适得其反，得不到想要的结果。

This story tells us: we should not rush to achieve success, but should respect the objective laws of the development of things and proceed step by step. If we are too impatient and violate the laws of nature, it will be counterproductive and we will not get the desired results.
