The Wolf and the Lamb

有一天，一只善良的小羊在河边喝水。

One day, a kind lamb was drinking water by the river.

这时，有一只狼也来到河边，看到正在喝水的小羊，狼很想把小羊给吃了。

At this time, a wolf also came to the river and saw the lamb drinking water. The wolf wanted to eat the lamb.

狼想着：“我不能直接吃掉小羊，要是被其他动物看到，会说我的闲话，指责我。The wolf thought: "I can't just eat the lamb. If other animals see it, they will gossip about me and blame me.

我得想个妙招，用一个合理的借口吃掉小羊，既能饱餐一顿，还不用被其他动物说闲话。”

于是狼看着小羊，故意找茬：“你为什么弄脏我的水？害我喝不到干净的水了，你安的什么心。”

So the wolf looked at the lamb and deliberately made trouble: "Why did you dirty my water? I can't drink clean water now. What are you thinking?"

小羊很害怕，但他还是勇敢地说：“我在下游喝水，你在上游，水怎么会被我弄脏呢？”

The lamb was very scared, but he still said bravely: "I am drinking water downstream and you are upstream. How can the water be polluted by me?"

狼见这个借口行不通，又换了一个借口，生气地说：“那你也是个坏家伙，我听其他动物说，你去年说过我的坏话！”

Seeing that this excuse didn't work, the wolf changed his excuse and said angrily: "Then you are also a bad guy. I heard from other animals that you said bad things about me last year!"

小羊更害怕了，但还是回答：“我今年才出生，怎么会说你的坏话呢？”

The lamb was even more frightened, but still answered: "I was born only this year, how could I say bad things about you?"

狼很生气，因为他知道小羊说的是对的。

The wolf was very angry because he knew the lamb was right. 

但他还是说：“不管怎样，你现在就是我的晚餐！”说着，就往小羊身上猛扑过去，抓住它把它吃掉了。

But he said, "You are my dinner now, no matter what!" Then he pounced on the lamb, grabbed it and ate it.
