Dong Zhuo was the prime minister of Emperor Xian of Han. He was very ambitious and wanted to be the emperor himself. All those who opposed him were either driven away or killed by him.
Dong Zhuo's power was getting bigger and bigger, and his subordinates often acted recklessly and bullied the people.
One day, several officials gathered at the home of the senior official Wang Yun, and Cao Cao was among them. Wang Yun said with a sad face: "Alas, the country is about to be destroyed by Dong Zhuo."
At this time, Cao Cao said: "It's useless to cry. I have a way to kill Dong Zhuo and get rid of the harm for the country." Cao Cao borrowed a sword from Wang Yun after he finished speaking.
The next day, Cao Cao came to see Dong Zhuo with the sword. Dong Zhuo asked: "Why are you late?" Cao Cao replied: "Because the horse is too thin and walks slowly."
Hearing Cao Cao say that the horse he rode was very thin, Dong Zhuo asked someone to pick a good horse for Cao Cao. Dong Zhuo was very fat. After sitting for a while, he felt tired and lay down on his side.
这时候周围没有人,曹操心想:“正好趁现在杀了他。”
At this time, there was no one around, Cao Cao thought: "It's a good time to kill him now."
Cao Cao quietly pulled out the sword, but Dong Zhuo saw it in the mirror. He sat up and asked loudly: "What are you going to do?"
Cao Cao thought: "This is bad!" He suddenly had an idea, knelt down with the sword in his hand, and said: "I have a sword to give to you."
Dong Zhuo took it and saw that it was really a sword, so he happily accepted it.
董卓带着曹操去看马,曹操一心想着要马上逃走,就说:“丞相请让我骑上马试试。”
Dong Zhuo took Cao Cao to see the horse. Cao Cao wanted to escape immediately, so he said: "Prime Minister, please let me ride the horse and try."
He jumped on the horse, walked around the yard for a few laps, raised the whip and ran out of the Prime Minister's Mansion quickly.
After Cao Cao left, Dong Zhuo thought that Cao Cao's expression was not right, and he became confused. So he sent people to chase Cao Cao.
士兵们赶到曹操府上,结果府中空空的,一个人也没有。又赶紧到城门口查询,看守城门的人说:“曹操骑着一匹快马刚刚出城。”
The soldiers rushed to Cao Cao's mansion, but it was empty, and no one here. He hurried to the city gate to inquire, and the gatekeeper said: "Cao Cao just left the city on a fast horse."
Dong Zhuo was very angry when he heard that Cao Cao had escaped, and offered a reward for his capture.
Cao Cao returned to his hometown, where he recruited soldiers and called on officials from all over the country to oppose Dong Zhuo.
讨伐董卓的大军从四面八方涌向京城洛阳。
The army to attack Dong Zhuo rushed to the capital Luoyang from all directions.
